Brussels Griffon Breed Profile

Another 17th century Toy breed, the Brussels Griffon was bred by combining the Affenpinscher with Belgian street dogs, to create a ratter extraordinaire. The two types of coat, smooth and rough, were created by infusing the smooth-coated Pug into the breed later, and to this day, in one litter one might find both wire and smooth-coated Griffons. The Griffons are an adorable breed, known for their intelligence, alertness, sensitivity and full of self importance.
