Belgian Malinois Breed Profile

One of the first registered Belgian shepherds, today called the Belgian Malinois, made its way into the Societe Royale Saint-Hubert in 1891. Today, the Belgian Malinois is the most popular working dog in Europe, made desirable for a variety of jobs by its short, easy-care coat, its medium size, and its keen intelligence and trainability. Though it was initially bred as a sheepdog, this breed excels today as a police dog, army dog, and in most types of canine competition. This is a hardworking dog, and, though it makes a fine family pet, may become nervous if it does not have a job to do.

Belgian Malinois Distinguishing Characteristics

Normally built dog with a excellent working temperament, used as a police and guard dog. When the muzzle is slightly longer than the skull, it gives a characteristic finish to the head. The forehand angulation should be closer to a 110-115 degree angle than to the 90 degree angle considered to be a normal forehand
