| American Staffordshire Terrier |
Terrier |
Large |
Heavily built dog with a very athletic appearance. A little bit more ‘on his legs’ than his English cousin, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Since they were used in the past for dog fights, be wary when this dog is among other dogs. Very friendly towards people. |

Small Medium |
Dog with a normal outline and a very characteristic Otter-like head. Very moderate in character and temperament, very trainable. |
| Bull Terrier |
Terrier |
Large |
Heavily built dog with a very athletic appearance. Very characteristic egg-shaped head with no stop. Since they were used in the early days for dog fights, be wary when this dog is among other dogs. Very friendly towards people. |
| Cairn Terrier |
Terrier |
Small |
Technically, this dog is considered to be in between a short legged dog and a rectangular dog. The length of the legs is ¾ of the normal length, according to the FCI, which would seem to indicate that he is a short legged body type; however, his feet and the size of the body are proportional, not oversized as a true short legged dog, so that dictates that he is rectangularly built. This little dog is happy and friendly towards people; however, as in this whole group, they can be testy towards other dogs. This dog was once known as the short haired Skye (remember that the Skye in those days was less extremely built than it is now). |
| Dandie Dinmont Terrier |
Terrier |
Small Medium |
Short legged variety of the Bedlington Terrier with a curved top line and a distinctive head. |
| Glen of Imaal Terrier |
Terrier |
Medium |
Short legged and very heavily built, their head looks a little bit like a Dandie Dinmont, but without the profuse topknot. They can be very feisty and testy towards men and animals, though they also can be ‘dramatic.'

| Manchester Terrier Standard |
Terrier |
Medium |
Dog with a normal outline, almost looks like a miniature Doberman. They can be reserved towards strangers. |
| Miniature Bull Terrier |

Miniature form of the ‘normal’ Bull Terrier. As always, the miniature is a little bit more temperamental than the original form. Like their big brother, friendly towards people. |
| Miniature Schnauzer |

Oddball in the Terrier group. There are three varieties of Schnauzers. The AKC placed the other two in the working group, but they all have the same standard except for the color. They are similar in character and temperament to the Wire and Welsh Terriers. |
| Norfolk Terrier |
Terrier |
Small |
Similar build as the Cairn Terrier but smaller and a little bit more cobby. In 1964 recognized as a separate breed by the Kennel Club, and in 1979 by the AKC. Before that, it was considered a variety of the Norwich with folded ears. |
