| Havanese |
Toy |
Small |
Looks like a bigger, more strongly built Maltese. However, the coat has slightly more structure and usually has colored markings. Although this dog is mentioned as a short legged small dog in some books, this doesn't hold true when one reads the breed standard. As a matter of fact, the standard even calls for a relatively short upper arm (terrier front) and straight legs seen from all sides. Also the feet are described as normal sized. This leads to the conclusion that this breed is somewhat in between a short legged dog and a normal legged dog. |

Extra Small |
The Papillon is similar to the Japanese Chin and the long coated Chihuahua. Characteristics for the breed include the large standing ears with feathering, although there is also a variety with hanging ears. Unlike the Japanese Chin, they have a normal foreface. They are slightly larger than the Chihuahua, and their ears are more rounded at the tip and set wider apart than the ears of a Chihuahua. |
