Welsh Springer Spaniel Breed Profile
British painters depicted the handsome, red and white Welsh Springer Spaniel in the 1700s, when this breed was a favorite of aristocrats who were hunting enthusiasts. This breed is a true Spaniel, and one of the older types of Spaniel as well, though smaller than the English Springer and with different coloration. A great hunting dog and a happy individual, this breed is shown in Europe with shorthaired ears, and in the United States with feathering on the ears. In general, the ears of the Welsh Springer Spaniel are smaller and shorter than typical Spaniel ears. Before this breed was recognized by the KC, it was also known as the Welsh Cocker.
