Scottish Terrier Breed Profile

The Scottish Terrier was described in books dating as far back as 1572, and Scottie fanciers prize this breed as the oldest and only true Terrier from Scotland, from which all of the other Highland breeds have sprung. The Scottie is a true short-legged Terrier, with large teeth, feet, head and a large body on short limbs. In temperament, the true Scottie is not as outgoing as other Terriers, and, though fond of their own people, are quite reserved toward strangers, and their great love of daily routine is unique and adorable. An implacable breed, one might observe that nothing seems to rattle them, but they will respond to a situation when necessary. The Scottie has great courage and temperament, and can be considered nothing short of a true Terrier. This is a truly lovely and precious breed.

Scottish Terrier Distinguishing Characteristics

Very likely the most recognized Terrier, with a very unique appearance. High tail set, short body and long head with profuse eyebrows. They can be testy and feisty towards men and animals.
